Hello, Everyone my name is Shinikia Battle, I am a fulltime mother of six wonderful young ladies and a wife to a loving husband of 13 years. I work fulltime at Amazon as a Process Guide, which is a Assistant in training. I also am a student here at Albertus Magnus College. I am using my Iphone 11 in order to take my photos. Now a little about me, I am going for my Bachelors in Criminal Justice and this is my Senior year and hope to finish in May. And if it were not for my mother I would not be where I am today, this woman lead me to believe that she had a apt., which she did not explain to me what it was for. So as we go into the school she told me to ask about the program and I did and the next thing I know I was signing up to attend and 4 years later here I am. My mother recently passed away in Nov. of 2020 which was the hardest thing for me, I lost my drive and didn't want to continue to keep pushing, but family and friends convinced me that what she would want is for me to keep going, so here I am, trying to make her proud of me. But I choose this field because I want to make a change in the world for the better, I feel that I can contribute to the society by helping those that need to gain the understanding of life and how doing certain things can ruin theirs, I would like to start my career off with juvenile probation. This way I can get them while they are still young and are able to change their lives around, yet my dream career is Crime Scene Investigating and hopefully one day I will get there. I choose this elective just to gain insight on how digital photographing works and how so many can create beautiful and creative looks to their photos. And I wanted something that would relax my mind, something that I could have fun with and to learn something different that I would have never done before, I am not computer sabi and don't know how to be creative so this is a little out of my comfort zone but I love to learn new things. I hope from this class to learn to be more adventurous when it comes to taking photos and to be able to show the beauty that I get to experience to everyone else. So thank you for having me in this class and I hope to show great work and progress.
Welcome Shinikia...! Great post. I'm so sorry for the loss of you mother. It is so very hard, especially with having 6 children. I am certain she loved them very much and was a big influence in their life. You iPhone 11 is a great camera... so much so that I may need to rethink a lot about this class as that phone cam changes so much. There is less need for editing because it takes multiple pictures for each shot and combines them to make one very good image. Make sure you set it up in the camera settings for "most compatible" instead of the default "most efficient" The most efficient setting creates .heic format files which Photoshop can't open. Also as you transfer them on your phone, do make sure that you transfer the largest, original size.
