Week 7 - Virtual Photography Trip

Officially the trickiest assignment yet!! For some reason, using someone else's photo and photoshopping it to adjust colors and change a focal point was really difficult. It was fun to browse through some great giga-pixel photos though!

A couple of pictures taken on my little get away for the weekend.

Elmcrest Asylum by Tehya Novella

This week, I took a little very long 45 minute road trip up to Portland, Connecticut to get pictures of the infamous Elmcrest Asylum. It was actually a very fun and interesting experience. I took over 215 pictures! That took up my entire hard drive! AH! In the end, while I honestly wanted to upload every last one, I decided it would be best to go with my top ten favorites (along with some interesting photos of the graffiti scattered throughout the premises). And so, behold:

The Interesting Graffiti:

While there was much graffiti scattered throughout the grounds, I found all of this the most interesting as they were the most common found. The circle with the 'A' inside it as well as "Boys" and "Girls" were pretty much scene everywhere I went. It led me to wonder what exactly could be the reason behind them. A part of believes the "boys" and "girls" wording I kept finding may have been graffiti used to indicate the separate areas for male and female patients of the mental facility.

Throughout it all, the pictures I have taken do not even cover half the premises. There are many buildings that are on the grounds and my photos only showcase three of them. There is so much more to see. If you would like to see more, I highly recommend going to visit this place in person (although maybe when there isn't snow on the ground).

Week 6 - Window Light Portrait

The sun was a bit harsh, so it was tough to catch the picture where the sun wasn't hammering the person's face, and then trying to dampen it in Photoshop was even trickier.
