Portrait with Natural Light

Here are a few of my favorites from this week's assignment...

  1. Nice job medicine… Again as I've been pointing out our direct sunlight makes the whole job much trickier especially if the subject is wearing light-colored clothing. See how the fourth one down is getting too much sunlight on on her hoodie and the light areas can't hold tonality and are blown out? Also the patterns on that hoodie compete with her eyes which should be and are the focal point of the picture. When it comes to small children like this a good solid return rate is to shoot 20 to get one… Especially for newbie. The more experienced you get with the camera the more you're able to find those quiet moments where truth is revealed. I would say my favorite one is the second one down.

  2. Oops sorry about that Madison! Just as I was hitting the Publish button I realized I should have proof read my post... I'm using Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice recognition software to help with the comments and look how it destroyed your name!
